What are the opening hours for the sanctuary?
The sanctuary is open daily from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with last entry permitted until 4:00 PM.
Where is Karnala Bird Sanctuary located?
It is located on NH 66 (Mumbai-Goa Highway) in the Panvel Taluka of the Raigad District, Maharashtra
Are mobile phones and music systems allowed?
You may carry mobile phones, but playing music or loud audio is strictly prohibited. Silence must be maintained to avoid disturbing the wildlife.
Can we change or cancel our booking?
No. All bookings are final. There will be no refunds, transfers, or rescheduling permitted under any circumstances.
Can we carry plastic bottles or packaged snacks?
Yes, but a refundable deposit of ₹50 per plastic item will be collected at the entry. This is refunded when the plastic item is returned at the exit gate. Littering is strictly prohibited.
Can we feed animals during the trek?
Absolutely not. Feeding wildlife is strictly prohibited as it may endanger both animals and trekkers.
What safety precautions should I take?
Wear appropriate gear, stay hydrated, follow your guide, and stick to the marked trail. The Forest Department and JFM Committee are not liable for any mishaps.
Is photography allowed on the trek?
Yes, photography is permitted, but the use of flash, spotlights, or drones is not allowed. Commercial shoots require prior approval.
Are washrooms available on the trek?
Washrooms are available only at the base village. There are no Washrooms during the trek itself.
When is the best time for bird watching?
The peak season is from November to April, when migratory birds arrive.
Is parking available?
Yes, dedicated parking for cars and bikes is available at the base of the sanctuary.
Can I bring a music system?
No, visitors must maintain silence; loud music or audio from mobile phones is strictly prohibited.
What kind of wildlife can I see?
The sanctuary is home to over 123+ bird species and more than 56+ species of butterflies, including the Blue Mormon.
